Job Description

Ultimate Staffing is seeking a hands-on Facilities & Maintenance Manager to oversee facilities, equipment maintenance, and day-to-day operations across multiple Orange County locations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the field, solving problems, managing priorities, and leading a small facilities team within a regulated manufacturing environment.

This is not a strictly administrative facilities position. The right person will have strong technical knowledge and be comfortable troubleshooting equipment, coordinating repairs, working with vendors, and jumping in when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritize facility tickets, maintenance requests, and work orders across multiple locations.
  • Lead and schedule a team of two facilities/maintenance employees, organizing daily workload based on business priorities.
  • Ensure facilities and equipment are properly maintained and preventive maintenance is completed according to established procedures and schedules.
  • Troubleshoot facility and equipment issues and provide hands-on support when needed.
  • Perform or oversee general facility repairs, including hanging fixtures and equipment, minor drywall work, equipment disassembly, and other general maintenance needs.
  • Coordinate facility projects involving utilities such as compressed air, nitrogen, vacuum, and water systems.
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D teams to support production and facility needs.
  • Support new workspace and equipment installations, including helping prepare new areas for R&D and manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinate contractors and outside vendors for repairs, construction, and specialized projects.
  • Lead facility improvement, space planning, and construction projects.
  • Support environmental health and safety programs and ensure compliance with applicable safety and hazardous material requirements.
  • Assist with emergency preparedness and business continuity activities related to facilities and equipment.
  • Manage facility-related budgets, expenses, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain organized project plans, maintenance schedules, documentation, and ticketing systems.
  • Provide a high level of internal customer service to employees and leadership, whether responding to a minor request or an urgent facility issue.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of facilities management and/or manufacturing process support experience preferred.
  • Experience working within a GMP and/or ISO-regulated quality environment required.
  • Cleanroom construction and/or maintenance experience required.
  • Medical device, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Mechanical and/or electrical experience is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience managing or supporting multiple facilities is a plus.
  • Experience leading direct reports and coordinating the work of maintenance or facilities technicians.
  • Strong understanding of general building maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and facility systems.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety, OSHA, and hazardous materials requirements.
  • Strong project management, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work orders simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working directly with employees, senior leadership, vendors, contractors, and cross-functional departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and facility/work-order tracking systems.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is approachable, responsive, organized, and technically capable. Employees should feel comfortable coming to this person with anything from a simple maintenance request to an urgent equipment or facility issue.

The ideal candidate knows how to assess a problem, determine what needs to be done, prioritize the work, and either complete the repair or coordinate the appropriate resources to get it resolved.
